Austin Smith specializes in commercial debt collection. As part of his practice, Mr. Smith successfully overturned 20 years of caselaw and established new precedent at three federal circuit courts of appeals that a certain category of private student loans were dischargeable in bankruptcy.  Mr. Smith is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and is on the Advisory Board of Upsolve, a tech nonprofit which provides free bankruptcy services to low-income individuals.  In his spare time, he competes in triathlons, writes fiction and produces a podcast on Greek Tragedy.

He is graduated from Harvard University, and the University of Maine Law School.
